Welcome to Mrs. Artman's 3rd Grade Class

Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Julie Artman and I am the newest addition to the third grade team at Buffalo Hills. I am may look familiar to some students as I was taught KPS remote learning students last year, but had a classroom down the hall.

I first decided I wanted to become a teacher when I was in third grade and third grade is my favorite grade to teach. I am originally from Iowa City, Iowa. I went to college at the University of Dubuque and earned a degree in Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching in Houston, TX where I taught third grade general education, gifted and talented, and inclusion. I loved my experience so much that I stayed in Houston for 12 more years.

During my time in Texas I earned a Master's Degree in Differentiated Instruction from Graceland University, five months later I headed back to school and earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University. I spent 5 years teaching third grade and then 7 years as a librarianI working with students in early childhood through fifth grade, but third grade continued to be my favorite.

While in Texas I met my husband, Bryan. Bryan is an Assistant Professor at UNK in the College of Education. His job opportunity is the reason we moved from Texas to Nebraska in the summer of 2019. Together we have three children. Our oldest daughter is in 2nd grade, our son is in kindergarten, and youngest daughter is 2 years old. Upon moving here I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home for the 2019-2020 school year, but was ready to return to teaching in the fall of 2020. At the time I was hired by KPS as a permanent sub, but quickly transitioned to the role of remote learning teacher teaching both kindergarten and third grade.

I am excited to get to know each of my students and their families during the 2021-2022 school year!
